Student Eco-Arts Exhibition (Pandemic Edition)

The EarthDay+50 Student Eco-Arts Exhibition (Pandemic Edition) is an online exhibition of student work from the class “Environmental Literature, Arts, and Media” (Environmental Studies 165), taught by Adrian Ivakhiv in the Spring of 2020. Noah Zhou, UVM Davis Center student art curator, worked with us to exhibit this in the Artsteps virtual gallery platform.

Click on the links below to view and walk through the exhibition and the program. Afterwards, please vote for your favorite artworks by clicking on the “People’s Choice” ballot below. Submit any additional comments in the comment form at the bottom of this page. Thanks!

Here are some notes to help you view the artworks and make your way through the gallery.

1) Every image in the gallery is embedded with the artists’ statements.  Click on the images as you are going through the gallery and a window will come up with students’ accompanying statements. When you click the individual images, Artsteps also gives you a nice full screen view.

2) The gallery has a guided virtual tour — at the bottom of your screen there will be a play/pause button, rewind, etc. If you get stuck in the middle of the tour at an awkward angle, you can click on the floor of the studio and your POV will walk to the spot. The guided tour function is optional; if you want, you can freely explore the space.

3) The gallery can take a few minutes to load all of the files. Once it is loaded, it should run smoothly.

4) Some of the student projects include components that could not be easily uploaded into Artsteps due to file size or type (e.g., videos, PowerPoint presentations, et al.). These projects are identified by a brief all-caps message in the piece description. The missing pieces, along with others that did not make it into Artsteps, can be found in a shared Google folder. Click the link below to access it.
