Monday April 19: Conversation with Environmental Justice Activist Wanjiku Gatheru, 5:00-6:00 pm, TEAMS Live - Wanjiku “Wawa” Gatheru founded BlackGirlEnvironmentalist, has written for VICE News and Glamour Magazine, and is the first Black person to receive the Rhodes, Truman, and Udall scholarships. Earth Day (Thursday 4/22) talk: Innovations in Sustainability, with Marjorie Alexander, 10:15-11:30 am, TEAMS Live - Marjorie Alexander is the producer and host of Apple’s #1 sustainability podcast “A Sustainable Mind.” The podcast is for the earth-conscious individual, ecopreneur, environmental activist, sustainability enthusiast, grassroots organizer, minimalist, conscious consumer and the eco-curious. Earth Day (Thursday 4/22): Student Eco-Arts Exhibition Launch. This year’s theme is “Intimations: Eco-Artistic Glimpses Through the (Lifting?) Friday April 23: Let’s Talk About Race, Equity, Climate Adaptation and Driving Community Resiliency, talk by Deeohn Ferris, 12:00-1:00 pm - Deeohn Ferris is President and CEO of the Institute for Sustainable Communities. In her talk, she will discuss equitable environmental, economic, social and health solutions in response to climate change driven natural disasters disproportionately affecting the prosperity and resiliency of low income and communities of color.
